Exterior
The exterior of the Market Wagon is crafted from aluminum alloy, echoing the iconic look of a classic Airstream trailer. Acrylic fabric awnings extend from the sides, providing durable, water-resistant shelter against harsh weather conditions. ADA-compliant ramps made of lightweight aluminum with an anti-slip surface ensure accessible entry for all visitors. The flooring is a laminate material, chosen for its durability and ease of cleaning, supporting a practical, high-traffic environment.

Interior
The interior continues the theme of thoughtful functionality and warmth. Birch wood cabinets and shelves bring a natural, organic feel that complements the fresh products sold inside. Solar panels installed on the roof help power the entire system, making the wagon energy-efficient and cleanly off the grid. For refrigerated goods, the wagon features two glass-door reach-in coolers, with flexibility to add more units as needed to accommodate varying vendor needs. The result is a clean, welcoming, and adaptable space designed to make the mobile market experience as seamless and inviting as possible.

Our Goal
The ultimate goal of the Market Wagon is to create a bridge between mobile convenience and the authentic, vibrant experience of a live farmers market. Through thoughtful design and interaction, we aim to spark enough curiosity and connection that customers who engage with the wagon are encouraged to visit the full marketplace in person—where they can meet the sellers, explore a wider variety of products, and build deeper relationships. Even for those who cannot immediately access a physical market, the Market Wagon serves as a platform to foster a more personal connection with local vendors. By extending the reach of farmers markets into new communities, the project benefits sellers, buyers, and market organizers alike, strengthening local economies and growing community bonds.

Further Developments
Looking ahead, there are exciting opportunities to expand the project’s impact. Future iterations could include enhancements to the exterior design of the vehicle, turning it into a moving advertisement and an even stronger visual magnet to attract curiosity and drive engagement. A key area for growth is the development of a mobile app for both sellers and buyers: allowing sellers to track inventory and receive real-time sales notifications, while buyers can view GPS tracking of the wagon, preorder products, and reduce food waste by planning ahead. Given more time, we would also love to explore ways to amplify the personal storytelling of sellers through technologies like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or mixed reality (MR)—bringing human stories and product journeys to life inside and outside the wagon.
